Travelling to a wedding
Organising the perfect wedding requires a great deal of planning and
careful preparation, with everything from the all-important dress down
to table-settings needing close attention. Perhaps one of the most
important aspects of the bride and groom`s ideal wedding day is a
wonderful venue, and notably more couples than ever are choosing to have
their nuptials in beautiful settings such as stately homes and hotels,
rather than their local church. The increasingly popular move away from
saying wedding vows in the (usually bride`s) local church means that
engaged couples no longer necessarily feel tied to having their wedding
in their local area, and are instead looking further and further afield
in order to find the perfect backdrop for their special day. In this
quest for the ideal wedding venue or location, it is now not uncommon
for weddings to take place up to hundreds of miles away from where the
couple either currently live or grew up.
Frequently then, weddings take place a reasonable distance from the
bride and groom`s home town or towns, in areas where many of those
attending the wedding may not have previously visited, and are thus not
familiar with the best way to get there. With that in mind, it is then
crucial that all of those attending the wedding, whether as part of the
core wedding party, as guests at the wedding, or as guests at the
evening reception, are provided with travel details. If the wedding
venue is somewhere easily reached by rail or coach, then providing
guests with information on nearby train and coach stations, along with
timetables or information on the best places to find them is a good
idea. Additionally, giving guests the numbers of a few taxi firms local
to the wedding venue is wise, as some may need transport from the train
station, for example, or might even be staying nearby. Many people of
course choose to drive to weddings, and thus it is important to provide
guests with tr
avel directions. If most of the guests will be coming from the same
place then it might be possible to give directions from that area to the
wedding location. Otherwise, directions from the nearest large town or
motorway junction are usually sufficient. Also remember to provide
wedding guests with the precise address - including accurate postcode -
of the wedding venue, as this will be crucial to those who chose to use
a route finder or Sat-Nav system to make their way to the wedding.
In the modern world more and more people will have guests are their
wedding who are having to fly in from a foreign country. This could be
family members that have emigrated, friends that have moved abroad, or
even friends made whilst travelling, working abroad, or at university.
It is then important not to forget that these guests will require even
more detailed and specific travel details, as they as not only will they
be travelling from an airport, but they might also be travelling in a
country that is foreign to them, and so won`t be familiar with the road
layouts, motorways and so on. Equally, if planning to jet off and have a
wedding in the sunshine, guests also travelling to the wedding will need
details regarding airports and flights, including check-in times.
Additionally, many will likely drive to the airport and leave their car
there, so information on parking at Heathrow
airport, for example, should also be provided.
